When Storms Come

This Father’s Day, we honor the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, uncles, mentors, neighbors, and father figures who step into the gap and help guide us through life’s storms.
In this special message, Pastor Dr. Sharyon Cosey shares a powerful experience from a turbulent flight home to Chicago during severe storms. As the plane rocked through strong winds and an uncertain landing, she was reminded of one reassuring truth: God is in control.
Although we may not always face a physical storm, each of us will encounter difficult seasons. Grief, financial pressure, illness, job loss, uncertainty, and personal struggles can leave us feeling afraid and unsure of what comes next. During those moments, we need faith—our spiritual safety belt—to remind us that we are always in God’s hands.
The same Heavenly Father who delivered the Israelites from Egypt, parted the Red Sea, and carried generations through seemingly impossible circumstances continues to watch over us today. God is still in the delivering business.
We are also grateful for the earthly fathers and father figures God places in our lives. They may not be able to stop every storm, but through their love, prayers, encouragement, protection, and presence, they help us weather the storms we can see and those hidden within our hearts.
As Pastor Dr. Sharyon Cosey reminds us, we may be entering a storm, standing in the middle of one, or finally coming out of one. Wherever we are, we must encourage one another with words of faith: You can make it.It is going to be all right.Pray about it.God is with you.
This Father’s Day, we thank God for our Heavenly Father, who never leaves us, and for every man who has reflected God’s care by showing up for someone in need.
